The Capitol Hotel Sydney

Situated right next door to The Capitol Hotel, Sydney’s historic Capitol Theatre has played host to world class musicals, theatre, gigs, ballet, opera, and shows of all kinds.

Beginning its long life in 1892 as the New Belmore Markets, the Sydney Capitol Theatre was briefly converted to a circus hippodrome, before being transformed into a theatre for its grand reopening in 1928. Over the years it has hosted iconic performances of Jesus Christ Superstar, West Side Story, Porgy and Bess, The Lion King, Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, Wicked, Les Miserables, and Moulin Rouge!.
